Arrr! The Colombian Navy Flexing in English Bay

Ask and you shall receive! Yesterday, I posted on my Instagram and blog about a mystery ship anchored in English Bay ... I was convinced it was commandeered by pirates. A few others thought the same, but it was Julie Huijberts who got to the bottom of this mystery, letting me know it is the A.R.C. Gloria, the flagship of the Colombian Navy. Thanks Julie!

Built in a shipyard in Bilbao, Spain with three giant masts supporting 23 sails, the A.R.C. Gloria has a mast height of 131 feet and a length of 212 feet. Turns out, it will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. It will be anchored in North Vancouver for the next three days, and is open to the public. Be sure to check it out!
